Where to beginThe Shape of Nearness è un album fantasy art-pop di venti brani, ognuno plasmato da una diversa stirpe elfica e dal suo modo di intendere l’intimità. Tra strade nel deserto, porti al chiaro di luna, passaggi nascosti, camere di cristallo, tempeste, rituali, sogni e spazi impossibili, l’album esplora lo struggimento, la fiducia, il desiderio, la libertà e le scelte che avvicinano due persone.
Qui il fantasy non è un semplice ornamento: ogni stirpe diventa un linguaggio emotivo a sé. La distanza diventa navigazione, la segretezza diventa vulnerabilità, il rituale diventa consenso e la magia diventa un modo per esprimere ciò che le parole comuni non riescono a dire. Archi da camera, vetro, arpa, cetra, strumenti ad ancia dal registro grave, percussioni delicate e armonie lontane senza parole si muovono tra uno slancio inquieto e il silenzio quasi assoluto, dando a ogni brano una forma propria senza allontanarlo dal mondo condiviso dell’album.
Al centro di The Shape of Nearness c’è la vicinanza senza possesso: il momento in cui non ci limitiamo più a desiderare un’altra persona, ma ci fidiamo di lei, la scegliamo e le permettiamo di avvicinarsi.
